Families and friends will gather around the table next Thursday to celebrate Thanksgiving, a tradition that dates back to the historic first Thanksgiving meal in 1621.

The San Diego Coffee Training Institute has announced that it is expanding its training lab at Cafe Virtuoso in Barrio Logan. The lab, which will be completed by the end of the year, offers professional barista and coffee roasting classes for the community and the Specialty Coffee Association’s certifications. The nonprofit will be holding a party at the cafe to mark the groundbreaking for construction and to raise funds to buy an espresso machine and other necessary equipment for the lab.
