USC holds top spot, Cal even ranks 5th in the CWPA women’s polls with UC Irvine

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – – The University of Southern California remains the top ranked team in women’s water polo as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) posted the National Top 25, Division III Top 5, CWPA Top 4, and CWPA Division III Top 5 polls for Week 2021, Week 7 / 24, published.

The University of Michigan remains unanimously top pick in the CWPA Top 4 poll while Austin College leads the CWPA Division III Top 5. California Lutheran University also maintains top payroll in Division III Top 5 poll.

Voting by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). , Big West Conference, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and CWPA based on the cumulative results for the season, polls will be compiled and published on Wednesday during the season.

2021 WOMEN’S VARSITY DIVISION III TOP 5 (1st WEEK / 24 MARCH)

California Lutheran University retains its preseason position at # 1 on Week 5 / March 24th of the Women’s Varsity Division III Top 5 poll.

The Division III ranking is unique for 2021 as Cal Lutheran. Chapman University and the University of Redlands the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) chosen to compete during the California Institute of Technology, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, Occidental College, the University of La Verne, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and Whittier College start the season because of the pandemic. Austin College, Carthage College, Grove City College, Penn State Behrend and University of Wittenberg will contest the entire season of the CWPA Division III and is expected to fight for the title of Division III of the league from April 17-18 in Carthage.

Due to the number of participating teams, the survey of the top 10 Division III teams has been reduced to five teams in order to maintain proportionality between the number of participating programs and the size of the national ranking.
