The EMC Seafood & Raw Bar in Irvine has recently become a surprising power player in the local dim sum scene.
The trendy seafood restaurant and cocktail lounge opened on Culver a few years ago and have since expanded to several locations across California. In January, this flagship launched a new dim sum menu that is now exclusively dedicated to a separate kitchen crew. Dim Sum is available all day including takeout and delivery.

The craftsmanship and attention to detail is impressive. They package everything beautifully so that everything arrives in pristine condition. Most of it heats up perfectly when you have some of those classic steaming baskets at home, which makes this an especially fun way to put food on the table at home during a pandemic. (The terrace is open now.) I like the shrimp har gow, the translucent spinach and shrimp dumplings, the pork siu mai, the lotus-wrapped sticky rice with abalone and steamed barbecue pork rolls.
Choices are extensive, from steamed chicken feet to wok-fried noodles like beef chow fun. Of the dozen things I’ve tried, none of the items was a dud. And I could never say that with the original menu (much of which is still available).
It’s like a brand new restaurant – and easily one of the best dim sum in Orange County.
