Sgt. Pepperoni’s Pizza Store continues to grow, and partners announce that they will soon open in Irvine, bringing the total number of locations in Orange County to three.
“We see it as a very slow expansion in the sense that we’ve been together as a group for eight years. And it really only got expanded last year with the opening of Aliso Viejo and now Irvine, ”said Jeff Roberts, a partner with Sgt. Pepperoni is along with his wife Erica, Ellen and Rob Dodman, Grace and Andy Hong, Jennifer and Stan Frazier, and their families.
“Of course the pandemic has set a lot of people back, but we are so confident and proud of what we do every day that if there is a good opportunity we are only optimistic,” Roberts said in a recent interview.
Located on Campus Plaza in what used to be Gina’s Pizza, the restaurant offers quick, casual service and a pleasant environment, Roberts said. “It is owned by the Irvine Company. So, I mean, incredible appointments in terms of the outdoor common space: grass and planters, umbrellas and nice furniture. It’s a first class mall, ”he said.

The 2,500-square-foot restaurant will have design accents that pay tribute to the Beatles and an 800-square-foot terrace. Aimed at the UC Irvine community, the pizzeria has free WiFi, nods to the Anteaters basketball team, a small area for arcade games, and a big screen TV.
Sgt. Pepperoni’s will also connect with the community in general and continue to regularly raise funds for local schools, sports teams and charities, including Julian’s Lego Corner at CHOC Children’s Hospital.
Fans of the pizzeria will find their favorites from other places like the “Hawaii 5-0” with pepperoni, pineapple, sweet New York ricotta, fresh garlic and pickled jalapeño and meatball ricotta with “Stan’s meatballs”, marinara, sweet New York ricotta, fresher Garlic and mozzarella.
Frazier, winner of the “Chef Race: UK vs. US” in 2012, promises that you will never get tired of the menu as there will always be new products such as pizza of the month and specials.
Prices are similar to Newport. The Irvine menu includes popular items like Oreo Cookie Cheesecake, salads, sandwiches, and more. The signature, however, are pizzas made from scratch in a state-of-the-art XLT conveyor oven.
There will also be live music on the patio on special evenings, said Frazier, a former Sugar Ray drummer and now a member of The Side Deal.
“You could have a little jazz combo, a rock band, a singer-songwriter, a DJ – so we plan on having a lot of entertainment out there,” he said. “We respect our neighbors and there are a lot of students who live nearby and we don’t want to be loud and disgusting, but at the same time we want to invite people to come to Sgt. Pep and feel the vibrations and have a good time. “
Roberts can’t wait to host the entire community as OC finds its way out of the pandemic. He says Sgt. Pepperoni has something for everyone.
“We want families, children, work teams, church groups,” he said. “We want people to celebrate together over one of the best foods in the world, pizza. It’s round so you can put it in the center of a table and people can take a piece and we serve beer and wine. So I’m confident that the world will return to normal quickly. “
