Arkansas remains # 1 in the D1Baseball Top 25 for the fifth straight week after winning two of three Georgia to remain undefeated in the weekend series this year. Vanderbilt held onto # 2, while Mississippi State and Tennessee each moved up one place to give the SEC the top four places in the rankings.
The Big 12 occupies the next three places. Texas moved up one place to 5th after winning a huge road series at TCU that dropped from 3rd to 6th. Texas Tech, which won both the Longhorns and Frogs series but is still third overall, checks in at # 7.
ACC leader Notre Dame dropped a spot in 8th place after losing his first series of the year at home to the state of Florida. The Seminoles climbed just one place to 17th, were blocked by a traffic jam in the teenagers and got stuck behind Louisville # 15 and Pitt # 16 – both won the series against the Seminoles and stay ahead of them in the overall standings.
The Pac-12 race is tightly bundled at the top, and the top three teams in the league are also close together in the rankings. Oregon moved up one place to 10th after beating Washington, and Stanford jumped four places to 12th after winning a major streak against Arizona that slipped four places to 13th. UCLA also improved this week, climbing two places to # 23.
A week after being eliminated from the leaderboard, UC Irvine returned to number 24 this week after winning three of four on the road at UC Santa Barbara. The anteaters improved to 21-7 in the Big West, two games ahead of the gauchos. Old Dominion dropped out of the top 25 after sharing a four-game series against UTSA.
D1Baseball editors and national authors determine the top 25 rankings. Records are set by games from May 9th.
