IRVINE, CA – A 39-year-old motorcyclist who was killed after his bike collided with a truck that was towing a trailer in Irvine was publicly identified Sunday.
Rhett Mandel was a resident of Irvine, according to Orange County Coroner Investigator I. Chavez.
The crash occurred just before 8 a.m. on Saturday at the junction of Jamboree Road and the south exit of the San Diego (405) Freeway, Irvine Police Sgt. Karie Davies said.
The motorcyclist, now identified as Almond, was rushed to Orange County Global Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Davies said.
The truck driver stayed on the scene and worked with police, Davies said. Neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the crash, she said.
