Through a new partnership with Grubhub, the Girl Scouts will bring biscuits to your door like never before in 2021.
The pandemic hit at the height of last year’s Girl Scout Cookie season, forcing troops across the country to cancel personal activities. But it also changed the way Boy Scouts sold their various tasty cookies – they were redirected to virtual cookie stands and personalized marketing websites online.
For the 2021 cookie season, the U.S. Girl Scouts are going one step further, partnering with the grocery delivery website and the Grubhub app to bring cookies to fans’ doorsteps.
In San Diego, Grubhub will begin shipping cookies on February 1st. So keep an eye out for the app for how to buy it.
The Girl Scouts have partnered with the Fashion Institute of Technology to bring out a new collection for the first time in decades. The new uniforms have been designed to be comfortable and functional, and even include a cell phone pocket for a more modern look.
However, the partnership does not eliminate the need for entrepreneurial scouts. The organization says Girl Scouts will continue to do e-commerce by managing orders through the Grubhub app.
Girl scouts will also be delivering flyers and door signs outside the home, using social media to spread the word, and taking pre-orders through a “digital cookie” app available here for iPhone and here for Android.
Girl scout cookies are $ 5 or $ 6 per box, depending on the type of cookie. The proceeds will be used to support local troops.
According to Girl Scouts from the US, the Cookie program teaches girls business and leadership skills such as goal setting, decision making, money management, employee skills and business ethics.
