Irvine Man arrested for the murder of his wife

Police in Irvine, California, have arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with the murder of his wife, they said on May 5.

The victim, 33-year-old Chao Chen, was discovered by Red Apple on the kitchen floor of her home at around 1 p.m. on May 4.

Police said they learned of the murder after a probation officer called his probation officer to confess the crime. The officer relayed the information to the police, who arrested 42-year-old Yulong Bai at the scene.

The victim had obvious signs of trauma and was pronounced dead on the scene, Irvine police spokeswoman Sgt Katie Davies said.

The authorities found another man at the residence. Police said they later learned that he rented a room in the house and was not involved in the murder.

Months before the fatal incident, Bai was arrested for violent behavior and an injunction was issued against him.

According to public records, Bai was charged on October 12, 2020 and was due to appear in court on May 6 for a parole violation.

Chen had filed for injunctions against her husband in the past on November 16, 2020 and April 2.

Bai is currently being held in Orange County Jail on $ 1.13 million bail.

He had been married to Chen for 13 years.
