A 27-year-old cyclist was fatally injured in a car accident near Culver Drive, Irvine
IRVINE, CA (March 18, 2021) – Saturday morning, 27 years old Cynthia Alvarez was killed in a fatal bicycle accident near Campus Drive.
Alvarez was reportedly riding a bike when she was hit from behind by a vehicle. Due to the impact, she was thrown from the bike.
Paramedics say Alvarez suffered life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, she was later pronounced dead due to the extent of her injuries.
At this point in time, the authorities have not yet published a description of the vehicle or driver concerned. The area was closed for a short time during the clean-up and preparation work. But the road has opened again since then.
Further events leading up to the crash are unknown. However, an active investigation to determine further details is ongoing.
